Learning About Responsive Web Design!

So after working on the updates for my website recently, I started to think about web in the present day. I had talked with a web developer not too long ago about websites and designing for the web, and he said “definitely check out ‘Responsive Web Design!’,” and so I did. What I came across was very exciting stuff!

For those of you who don’t know what Responsive Web Design is, it’s the current solution to serving a website to so many varying web ready devices (ie. large iMac computer screens, all the way down to (hi-res) iPads/Pods/Phones, and Android devices).

I started reading an article over at Smashing Magazine’s site, http://coding.smashingmagazine.com/2011/01/12/guidelines-for-responsive-web-design/ and although it is becoming a bit aged (about a year and a half in the technology world is a long time!), it stills seems potently relevant and exciting! Without even finishing the article, my excitement (and A.D.D.) had me curious to see who had been utilizing these techniques! I found an abundant source over at www.awwwards.com ! It’s pure curiosity inducing and inspirational! So my next move is of course to continue studying what’s out there, finding what I like and how it works and then beginning to learn how to code JavaScript to make sites that I want to make, for myself and for others!

Avatar I am a huge fan of things of the past and enjoy studying the histories of old theme parks, beach towns, and old neighborhoods. I also enjoy the modern world of video games, as well as a good documentary, old homes and restoration, swimming, building things, watching movies, biking and rock climbing, collecting children’s books, teaching and helping those in need.
